Buying Property in Greece: The Purchase Process
Prepare your tax number and total budget, complete legal and technical checks, then coordinate the contract, payment and registration.
What should I organise first?
Obtain an AFM Greek tax number and establish your total budget. Add taxes and professional costs to the price before shortlisting homes.
What happens after selecting a property?
Have a lawyer check ownership and registered burdens, and an engineer check permits, plans and the actual condition. Resolve issues before a binding commitment.
When is the sale completed?
Your notary coordinates the applicable tax procedure and sale contract. Follow the agreed, documented payment process and complete the required property registration.
Is the residence application part of the same process?
It is a separate procedure. If you need a Golden Visa, confirm eligibility before purchase and prepare the investment, identity, insurance and family documents for application.
